2016 was one hell of a year! Despite all the ups and downs, I am so thankful that it was the year I finally embarked on my green beauty blogging journey. I met so many amazing like minded women and had such a good time playing a more active role in the green beauty community. Plus I tried some incredible products! Which is why I have rounded them up here in a best of green beauty of 2016 post. I’ve broken this topic up into into three posts: Makeup, Skin care, and Body.
First up: Makeup! I’ve included short breakdowns so this post wouldn’t get too long but if there are any products you would like a more in depth review of please let me know.
Enjoy and Happy New Year!!!
Primer: 100% Pure Mattifying Primer
I love how this glides over the skin. By the texture of it you would think you would be a oily mess but it’s amazing how it transforms my skin to a perfectly matte canvas. I also find it makes my makeup last longer. YAS.
Tinted Moisturizer: Suntegrity “5 in 1” Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen SPF 30
At $45 it aint cheap, but it has lasted me for nearly 6 months. I love how it really feels like a moisturizer, not a sunscreen. Lastly, it makes a great base for makeup, never having caused issues when layering products.
Foundation: Sappho Foundation in “Leisha”
My only gripe with Sappho was that their packaging was no bueno. But lo and behold they have now updated that! So what I am trying to say is they are perfect. I love this foundation so so much. It covers imperfections, while still maintaining a my skin but better finish. And, it’s by far the best color match I have ever found. Thank you Sappho!
Concealer: Hynt Duet Perfecting Concealer in “Light”
I have tried a few other really great concealers but I keep coming back to this one. It really just covers so much better than anything else I have found and it feels very nice on the skin. I find it lasts pretty long if I set it with a powder.
Powder: W3ll People Bio Brightener Invisible Powder
I’ve repurchased this twice. It goes on smooth. Takes away any intense shine but still makes my skin look like skin. I love how it brightens the under eye when used for baking.
Blush: HAN Pressed Blush in “Coral Candy”
Why spend 2x the price on a NARS Orgasm blush full of gross ingredients when you can get this blush that looks the exact same? The answer my friends, is you that you wouldn’t. This is a dupe if I ever saw one..but better because it’s green! I have been using it almost errrrryday.
Bronzer: Lily Lolo Pressed Bronzer in “Miami Beach”
So in case you didn’t see my mention above about how I shy away from self tanner, bronzer is also something I have been shy with. But this one changed all that. It is a perfect shade for my pale skin, totally matte, and blends beautifully.
Highlighter: Silk Naturals Highlighter in “Sweetie”
This highlighter is the most gorgeous shimmery peach/pink with gold tones. It is finely milled, so no gritty glitter sitting in pores, and it blends like a dream. Plus you would be hard pressed to find a more affordable highlighter at only $4.50
Eyeshadow: Teri Miyahira Beauty Carefree Eyeshadow Palette
Holy pigment!!! This stuff is SO powerful and yet feels so smooth and creamy. The colors are so gorgeous and versatile, I reach for it on the daily. If you don’t subscribe to her beauty box already, now is the time!
Eyeliner: Physicians Formula Eye Booster 2 in 1 Lash Boosting Ergonomic Felt Tip Eyeliner + Serum
That’s a mouth-full of a product name I know. But it’s OK because it is a damn good liner. I love that it has a felt tip and the color is a true dark dark black. The shape of the pen also makes it really easy to apply.
Eyebrow: Eco Brow in “Penelope”
I adore Eco Brow. The color options are great, the formulation is easy to apply and it stays put all day. Anastasia who?
Mascara: Hynt Beauty Nocturne Mascara
Gives me big beautiful lashes. No flakes. No smudges. No eye stinging. Love.
Lipstick: 100% Pure Cocoa Butter Semi-Matte Lipstick in “Aubergine”
Never did I think I would see the day where I actually enjoyed putting on a matte lipstick. But here we are. It just feels so good and nourishing on the lips. And the color! oh my heavens is it pretty and pigmented! Must. Buy. More.
Lipgloss: Lily Lolo Lip Gloss in “English Rose”
Perfect everyday dusty rose color. It feels smooth on the lips and not sticky. It smells like chocolate. Plus you get a good amount of product for the price, $16.
