Happy Monday! This marks the start of the second week of 2017, and I have to say, so far I love this year! I have been feeling really optimistic about all of the different creative endeavors in my life, and what 2017 may have in store. Not to mention all the green beauty I have yet to try 🙂 But for now, let me wrap up the third and final of my three part series: Best Green Beauty 2016, with a post all about skin care.

This year was hard on my skin. After years of being on hormonal birth control, I decided to take the leap and transition off of it. It was quite the process and the biggest frustration that came with the transition was the hormonal break outs. My hormones took nearly a full year to sort themselves out and I felt my skin was their personal battle ground. Each month a new war scene appeared on my face. Not fun. It took a lot of patience, (and acupuncture) but my skin is finally looking a lot better. Now my focus has been fixing the hyper pigmentation that has been left behind.

The one benefit from this experience was I tried a lot of new products, and found amazingly effective ones that have done wonders for my skin.
With that said, let’s dive into some of those wonderful products, shall we?

Lip Balm:
Kari Gran Lip Whip in “Peppermint”
The first time I tried this product was at the Lipstick Angels event at Credo this past fall. One of their talented makeup artists offered to do a makeup touch up on me, and of course I couldn’t say no 🙂 She noticed I was struggling with chapped lips. She immediately pulled out one of Kari Grans Lip Whips and slathered my lips with it.

By the time I got home that evening my lips felt smooth again. HOW?! Most likely its magic. I have been hooked on this stuff since and am happy to report it has kept my dry lips in check despite it being the middle of the winter.

Cleanser: Pai Camellia and Rose Cleanser
Super hydrating and gentle, yet it does the job of removing my makeup at the end of the day. My skin is always left feeling soft and calmed. I love that it comes in an air tight pump, which allows them to skip harsh preservatives in their formulation.

Exfoliator:
Acure Brightening Facial Scrub
If you have been following me for a bit you already know I am obsessed with this. I have faithfully been using and repurchasing this product for 3 years straight. It has a great grit, but never feels rough and doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. AND I use it as a body scrub as well…because why not.

Toner: Beauty by Earth Facial Toner
While I do still love my Thayers Witch Hazel, this one an upgraded version for when I am feeling fancy 🙂 Formulated with rose petal water and aloe, it is super calming and it smells soooo yummy. Fun story regarding this toner: I had just gotten it and packed it on a carry on for a flight home to San Francisco. When security said it was an ounce over the limit I decided to go back out of security, pour some of it out, and came back through again just so I could keep it. It worked and I kept my beloved toner. The sacrifices we make for beauty am I right?

Moisturizer:
CV skin Labs Calming Moisture
It just does what it should do: moisturize. And it does so with a super clean formulation. It has kept me from developing any dry patches this winter. It is so gentle yet effective I even used it on a new tattoo that was healing!

Eye cream:
One Love Organics Vitamin E Eye Balm
I have always been a fan of OLO. Their packaging is adorable and their products are top notch. This eye balm is so great at instantly smoothing the under eye of any fine lines. Why it won me over though is that it is very versatile. Chapped lips? Use this. Need to keep your brows in place? Use this. Dry cuticles? Use this. I could go on…

Serum:
Poethique Radiance Boosting Serum
I have been using this daily for a few months now and I feel that it’s doing great things for my skin. It has AHAs which have helped keep black heads away. It also smells divine and comes in a beautiful glass dropper bottle. If you want to read more I did a full review which you can check out here. If you decide to give it a try, use code: SHESANATURAL2017 to save %15!

Face Mask:
Herbivore Blue Tansy AHA + BHA Resurfacing Clarity Mask
Well first of all it’s blue. So that alone makes it super fun and great. Next, I can feel it working, with a gentle tingle! So that’s fun too. And lastly I really do feel like it helps clear my pores out and makes my skin look smoother and brighter.

I hope you enjoyed my “Best of Green Beauty 2016” series! Are there any skin care products you think I should try this year? Let me know in the comments below.
